The West Virginia Senate passed Senate Bill 173, which prohibits the trafficking and dispensing of abortion pills, defining abortifacients and establishing penalties for violations, including felony charges for non-medical professionals and license revocation for medical professionals. The Senate also passed Senate Bill 531, the First Amendment Preservation Act, which restricts state agencies from contracting with media monitoring or fact-checking organizations to maintain viewpoint neutrality in state spending.
